'Provoked' follows Kiranjit Ahluwalia, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, an Indian immigrant living in the UK. Trapped in an abusive marriage, Kiranjit reaches her breaking point and, in a fit of desperation, sets her husband on fire, leading to his death. She is subsequently arrested and charged with murder. While serving her prison sentence, Kiranjit befriends a fellow inmate, played by Miranda Richardson, who helps her find the courage to fight for justice. With the support of her lawyer, played by Robbie Coltrane, Kiranjit challenges the legal system and paves the way for a landmark case in the fight against domestic violence.
